Originally Neil's Cottage was built in the mid-1800's and served as a planter's home on a farm in rural Clio, SC. In 2002, the small dwelling, being in great disrepair, was sold, dismantled plank by plank, moved, rebuilt and restored on Pumpkin Island by owners Neil and Janie Kruse. Unfortunately, near the end of the project, Neil lost a battle with cancer and was unable to enjoy the finished home but he remains the passion and the mastermind behind the planning and its restoration.
Much of Neil's Cottage today consists of the original wood walls, exposed beam ceilings and exterior doors along with an added-on modern kitchen, bathrooms and wrap-around porch. The large living room/dining area and bedrooms are housed in what was the original 1840's structure with the beautifully restored wooden interior. Enjoy the serenity of Pumpkin Island, its fabulous natural habitat and expansive views of the Bohicket! Your stay at Neil's includes access to all the amenities including the deep-water dock, boat, kayaks and more. There is also a fireplace, laundry room and golf carts to make your stay more comfortable.
